Ahmad Ghazali was a 12th century Islamic philosopher, theologian and mystic. He was born in Tus, Iran in 1058 CE, and was the younger brother of the famous Islamic theologian and philosopher, Abu Hamid al-Ghazali.
Ahmad Ghazali received his education in Tus, before moving to Baghdad where he became a student of several prominent scholars of his time. He was particularly influenced by the Sufi tradition of Islam, and his writings reflect his deep interest in Islamic mysticism.
Ahmad Ghazali's most famous work is his "Mizan al-Amal" (The Balance of Deeds), which is a comprehensive guide to Sufism and Islamic ethics. He also wrote several other books on Islamic philosophy and theology, including "Mishkat al-Anwar" (The Niche of Lights) and "Al-Iqtisad fi al-I'tiqad" (The Middle Path in Belief).
Ahmad Ghazali died in Tus in 1123 CE, and is remembered today as an important figure in the development of Islamic mysticism and philosophy.
